I think Christians understand the concept of wilderness in scripture. I believe that wilderness in this context is symbolic of all the places that are not necessarily in agreement with Christian belief. It refers to the places where we are tested. That is, we all have our own wilderness. For some of us, the wilderness may be in our own home or even parts of the church. For others, the wilderness may be the workplace or the gym or the golf course. Perhaps for some, the wilderness is much darker. Elisha Goodman
